It’s time to sort out your messy website

You’ve started your business, and you’ve done the scrappy stage, where you fill in a parade of worksheets, ugly cry in your mastermind group and jump through hoops to get clients.

You’ve got this now. You know what you do, who you do it for and why they buy it.

You are ready to move forward and quit flying by the seat of your pants. No more tech fires, no more doubting and not one more practice client.

but you’re overwhelmed with where to start

Your website is okay, but bland. It’s not reflecting who you are and it’s certainly not speaking to your ideal client. You know it’s not reflecting how professional you are. It could use better organisation, it’s all a bit of a mess without any clear calls to action. Your ideal client is getting confused about how they can work with you.

When it comes to the back end, you’re out of your depth. You spend hours going round in circles, wondering who you can email and what you’d even ask them.

You end up down a Rabbit Hole of overthinking and making it all waaaaaayyyy too complicated. You don’t know the best way of moving forward. It’s just a big heap of stress.

How many flavours of fabulous would it be to have a clear pro website you can manage yourself?

Hi I’m Jenn and I’m your secret tech weapon

I move people from the messy starting stage of their business to the calmer waters stage, so they can focus fully on sailing the seas: Clients – Connections – Content – Collaborations – Creation (see what I did there! I’m hilarious ?)

I understand how the internet works, how websites work and if you want to get down and dirty with DNS, plugins, PHP, cPanel, CSS, HTML, UX and a whole heap of other technobabble I am in there.

I also get to the point and find a straightforward solution rather than waffle on endlessly for the sake of it.

I have been in biz back ends since 2011 – I have witnessed authors hit bestselling lists, have million dollar launches and watched them ugly cry as they ask me if their dreams are possible.

I have a coin sorter brain and love to put creativity into a clear, simple order.

If you need someone to help you turn your slightly scrappy online home into an organised and efficient business generating machine then I’d love to help.

I can totally recommend Jenn. I’ve just finished working with them and it’s been amazing. I love my new website and can do most of it myself now. And I’m absolutely not a techie person. I really enjoyed the experience and having the control to make changes and play. Jenn is brilliant and I can’t recommend them enough.

Amy Metson

We were very pleased with the website. I love Jenn’s cheerfulness and slightly anarchic quality, and this makes working relations relaxed and honest.

Sheila Preston

I can honestly say, working with Jenn was an absolute dream. For a start, she really got to know who I was and what my business was. She guided me through the entire process and was the first person I had worked with to ask me what I wanted to project and importantly what I wanted people to feel when they visited my website.

Jenn really takes the time to get to know you and your business . She makes you feel supported and nurtured, she knows her stuff and will challenge you to really think about what you are creating the site for. She has the knowledge and the background to know what works and what doesn’t. She is funny and approachable, and fun!

Liz Warnock

Sounds great, how much?

Support from me

I don’t just chuck you off into the deep end. You have post go live help and support delivered over email and calls.

Before working with Jenn, my tech was messy and I had no idea how to figure it all out. I had a previous website that I wasn’t happy with, but didn’t have access to in order to change.

Jenn came along and had solutions to everything I’d been struggling with. She was so easy to work with and we built a good working relationship. I really liked that Jenn takes time to teach you how to complete basic tech tasks yourself, and I learnt a lot along the way.

Jenn is easy to talk to and happy to answer questions.
I was really happy with my website, and decided to go on working with Jenn longer term.

It’s such a relief to have someone else take care of tech so I don’t have to think too much about it. I find there is so much to do running a small business that not having the stress of trying to figure out tech is a major win when it doesn’t come naturally to you. I would highly recommend working with Jenn/Hell Yeah Tech.

Ruth Haslett

I’d been trying to get around to updating my website for years and years, but I knew there were things that I couldn’t do, so no matter how often I tried I ended up getting stuck and not bothering to get the website sorted.

It was such a relief to meet the tech process whizz that is Jenn, and I now have a super simple but super slick, beautiful website that does exactly what I want it to do. I can now focus on my programmes rather than wrestling with digital widgets and thingies that would never play ball without serious sorting!

Thank you, Jenn. You really know your stuff, and have a super clever way of knowing what I want even when I don’t know it. It’s been a huge pleasure to work with you. I really couldn’t have done it without you!

Manda Graham

How does it work?

First, we have a call together to ensure this is right for you.

If we go ahead, we decide on what is needed and agree the payment schedule (split payments are totally fine).

Once I have the first payment made, I open up our project area and we get going in these stages:

Preparation

I put your business under a magnifying glass and deep dive into your business direction and goals. We do this via a questionnaire and a 90-minute call. Clients often tell me this call in itself is hyper useful for them getting clear.

I will also get your branding choices and assets at this time, plus any logins I need.

Once I have absorbed your business into my brain, I create an outline site. Together we go through that and agree on the site structure, then we proceed to the next stage.

Creation

Now we have the structure, I move on to build your site using your photos, your colour, your fonts and your logo.

I set up your contact forms and test these so that your ideal clients can get in touch with you from day one with no tech hitches.

I also dive into all the tech gubbins that often gets missed – optimisations for speed and security, deliverability and discoverability. These are one time tasks that I don’t overwhelm you with by teaching to you but just get them done.

We come together to discuss what’s built and make any tweaks before declaring it live.

Go-Live and Handover

I hand the site over to you to update, along with your training videos. You can now tewak the copy, blog away and start inviting the internetverse to your new online home.

And if you get stuck? You have email access to me and also the chance to book in for live support sessions with me.

I’d thoroughly recommend working with Jenn to build a website if you don’t have a lot (or any) tech knowledge but need something building that just works.

Lucy Cartwright

Jenn is a delight to work with – she’s got the gift of communicating tech in a non-scary way. A total sweet bean! Highly recommend!

Leonie Dawson

Jenn has been a life saver! When I was lost in the fog, trying to climb a mountain of tech unknowns, feeling powerless, Jenn explained the tech-side of business in a straight-forward, easy to understand way.

Sounds great, how much?

Who is this a good fit for?

This is a good fit if …

  • You have been in biz for a while, have already had a few clients and are now ready to take on more without increasing your admin load.
  • Your website is not reflecting you and/or a bit cluttered and confusing.
  • You respect time boundaries and don’t fly into a panic easily.
  • You know what to write on your website. You know what you sell, who buys from you and why they benefit.
  • You are willing and able to take responsibility for your own tech.
  • You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and tackle the tech with a bit of guidence.
  • You enjoy having a laugh as you run your business.
  • You understand that swearing is a real thing these days and you don’t feel faint and clutch your pearls when you hear an f-bomb.

This is a not good fit if …

  • You want someone to do all of it for you, you don’t want to touch the tech side at all.
  • You want someone you can call on the phone or who responds to your messages the same day.
  • You don’t really want to be quizzed in depth about your business and would prefer someone who can intuitively understand you.
  • You are just starting out in your business and this is your first website (I have something that can help you, please drop me a note via my contact form).
  • You don’t like reading emails, filling in forms, or watching videos and are secretly hoping that I can open the top of your head and pour in all the knowledge.
  • You want to learn all about the back end, and want me to teach you exactly how to build a website and set up all the tech things. This isn’t a training course.

Sounds great, how much?

A Final Word ….

I know this is a big step. Running a business online takes a lot more than an idea and a cheeky grin. You’ve done the DIY route and more how-to videos aren’t what you need now.

Have a chat with me. I’ve been in online business back ends for years and I’ve seen a heckofalot that I can never divulge. What I can tell you is that you’re no less clever, talented or capable than anyone else. The online success people do cry, do make mistakes and do doubt themselves regularly.

If you feel ready to take your business further, and the tech is the obstacle, get in touch. I’m a massive introvert so won’t be getting you onto Zoom to flap my jaws at you until you submit. It has to be the right time for you and you won’t be pushed into anything you’re not ready for.

Questions and Answers

Do you do Wix/Squarespace sites? And can I use a different theme?

Nope, sorry. This is Divi and WordPress only.

Will you help me choose my brand colours and fonts?

This isn’t a branding package, so although I can give you a steer, I won’t be working with you to find juuust the right colours and fonts that convey your brand. If you do need help with this, I can put you in touch with my go-to brand person (and let you have the secret handshake to get them to work with you).

You will, however, get to pick from a set of branding documents and I will be helping you pick the right one if you get stuck.

Of course, you may already have your own branding document and I can work from that – note this may increase costs but those will be discussed in advance.

Will you get all the images for me?

I can help, but you’d need to choose the images. I can point you in the direction of free and low cost images. You will also be shown how to change the images. A lot of my clients do like to make tweaks to their sites as their businesses grow and develop, so switching out images is a great skill to have in your tech toolset.

Will you write all the pages for me?

No. I’m not a copywriter. I’m a good writer, but I’m not a copywriter. If you do need copy written from scratch, I can put you in touch with top notch copywriters.

I’m not a lawyer so won’t be writing your Privacy Policy or Terms of Website Use. I can link you up with places to get this for either free or very low cost.

On Transactional pages I will write the words but these will be super basic – for example “thank you for contacting me, I will reply soon”. It is good practice to change these to your voice though (you get extra marketing Brucie Bonus Points for doing that, as not many people do).

Will I need to learn coding or any other boring and complicated stuff?

Hell no! The Divi theme is super easy to use. If you can use things like Canva, if you can write a blog post and if you can use social media, you’ll be fine with Divi.

Do I get that SSL/green padlock thing?

A lot of hosting companies provice a free SSL certificate. If your hosting provider doesn’t supply free SSL certificates you will need to buy one (budget around £50 for 12 months).

Either way, I’ll set this up for you so your green padlock shows up. Phew.

What if I get hacked/the site loads slower than a snail on Prozac/it gets full of spam comments?

It’s fine – I’m setting up security, anti-spam and speed optimisation on your site. This is where a lot of those 1-Click installs fall down.

Plus, I’ll be showing you all you need to do to keep your site safe and speedy in just 5-minutes a week.

What do I need to have ready for us to work together?

Ideally, you’ll have some pro photos of yourself. These will be large files and I’m sorry but selfies taken with your phone aren’t going to cut it.

You will need to have some idea of the free thing you give to people who sign up to your mailing list. This can hold people back as they get into perfectionaism procrastination. You will be taught how to set up a new Free Thing so please don’t sweat this too much. Alternatively, you may not have a free download. At the time of writing, I don’t. I offer free 15-minute brain picks to my subscribers at random times instead.

If you have a logo that would be great but you don’t need one to go ahead with this. Your ideal client is less concerned about your logo and more with getting to work with you.

Do I need to buy any other tech?

Hopefully not, but I can’t guarantee that without diving into your current systems. The biggest cost would be if you needed to change your web hosting, and that would be around £100 a year. There is also the chance you will need to buy the SSL certificate (budget around £50). Finally, there are some paid plugins I recommend but these are all low cost and optional.

I worked with someone in a "done with you" way and it exhausted me. How is this different?

I’m not gonna lie, getting a new website is a MAJOR piece of work. It also takes place at a time when you are stepping UP in your business, which in itself can drain that battery if you’re not careful.

First, you need to be sure you’re ready for this. If you’re still figuring out what you do and why people buy it, this isn’t a good next step for you. Drop me a note at jenn@hellyeahtech.com and tell me where you’re at and I can point you in the right direction.

If you are ready, but you’re worried about being able to get it all done in time, please know I don’t do fast. I don’t like all the BIG HARD NOW shouty crap! We go slowly, and steadily and we take our time to get this right. I also don’t overload you with a billion worksheets or videos that waffle on and on. We zoom in on what you need and leave the rest of the fluff on the shelf. This is not a bloated programme padded with superfluous content. This is targeted and aims to give you time and headspace, not steal it from you.

I find it hard to buy things when I've bought stuff before and it's not worked out for me.

So do I. The internet has its fair share of letdowns. Why not have a chat with me anyway? You might find my approach a little different. I don’t do hard sell sales calls, there is no buy button on this page either. The application and the call are to see if I can actually deliver what you need. If I can’t, it’s really not in my interest to go ahead, it’ll be an uncomfortable experience for both of us.

Can I see sites you've built before?

Sure you can. Remember though that as I teach clients to be their own Website Guru, they do go on to change things about. This means what you see with a previous client won’t be exactly the same as your site.

But here are some projects:

Can I pay in USD or Euros?

At present, I’m only accepting payment in GB£, pounds sterling, UK money. I also don’t accept Skill Swaps, Exposure or Promises at this time.

What's the refund policy?

That depends on how much work has already taken place. It’s certainly not fair of me to tie you down and demand you go through with this if it’s not right, but similarly it’s not fair of you to ask for money back after I have invested significant time and effort into the project.

So, if we do decide that this isn’t right, the amount of refund depends on where we are up to:

Preparation Stage: before the Deep Dive Call has taken place: full refund less £25 admin fee. I will ask why you are after a refund (for my own quality checking) but I don’t use your answers as justification to say no.

Consulting Stage: after our call and after you have been presented with your first site but before it’s been built on your hosting: 50% refunded. This is because I have already put in considerable time and effort that could have been used for another client.

Creating Stage: when I have created the site on your hosting and set up your mailing list: No refunds are possible at this stage, due to the amount of work that’s taken place.

Go Live and Handover Stage: no refunds at all. I’ve done all the work and if you didn’t like it, this would have become apparent waaaaay earlier.

Do you offer split payments?

Yes, and these will be discussed with you before going ahead. There is a small markup on split payments to cover the extra admin plus the risk to me, but I don’t go in for stupid high split payments.

How do I get started?

Click the “Let’s Talk” button to arrange a time for us to get together to discuss this. We will talk, and if I think I can help you I will send you a proposal with a price. If you agree to it, you pay a deposit and get booked in for your kick-off call.

Wait, I have another question!

Great! I’d love to answer it. drop me an email at jenn@hellyeahtech.com
