WP Website Health Check

A one-off deep dive into your WordPress site. I find what’s actually broken, sort what’s urgent from what can wait, and clear the small stuff that’s been sitting on your to-do list for months.
It’s perfect for sites that are live and working, but you’ve stopped trusting them.

Book Now

Is your website actually okay, or are you just hoping it is?

You know something’s off. You just don’t know what.

Maybe it’s the plugin warning you’ve been ignoring since March. Maybe it’s the way you avoid wp-admin like it owed you money. Maybe it’s just a feeling that if you poke the wrong thing, the whole site goes down and you won’t know how to bring it back.

That’s the actual cost. Not the broken thing itself. Most of the time nothing is visibly broken yet. It’s the hovering. The bit of stress that sits there every time you think about your website, because you genuinely don’t know what state it’s in.

You could go digging yourself. But you don’t know what you’re looking for, and you definitely don’t know which red warning means “fix this today” and which one has said that for two years and been fine.

So it stays untouched. And while it sits there, it’s not staying still. It’s getting older, less supported, and further from anyone’s attention. Including yours.

What would you find if you opened up the hood and had a look?

Here’s the uncomfortable bit. It’s not about what might happen someday. It’s about what might already be true, right now, and you just haven’t been told yet.

You don’t currently know if one of your plugins has a known security hole sitting wide open, because nobody’s checked. You don’t know if your backups have actually been running, or just sitting there looking plausible, like a smoke alarm with no battery in it. You don’t know if your contact form is even working, or if it’s been swallowing enquiries and not telling you since some point you can’t identify, while you wonder why things have gone a bit quiet.

None of that requires a disaster to be true. It just requires nobody having looked.

You could go and check all of it yourself, obviously. Assuming you fancy an afternoon getting reacquainted with your hosting login, three tabs deep in a forum thread from 2019, wondering if the thing you just clicked was the thing that broke it.

Or you get someone who already knows what they’re looking at to go and look.

Right now, you’ve just got a website you’re not entirely sure about. That’s a very fixable kind of not knowing.

Let me do this for you

You’re not going to go and check all of that yourself. You weren’t ever going to. That’s not a character flaw, it’s just not your job.

Here’s what I actually think when I open up someone’s site: nothing.

No sigh, no “how did you let it get like this,” no mental note about what that says about you. I’m not there to work out whether you’re on top of things. I’m there to find out what’s going on with the plugins.

You’ve probably had enough people in your life who needed you to be more organised, more on it, more together.

I’m not one of them.

Whatever you’ve been avoiding, however long it’s been sitting there, however many times you’ve meant to deal with it and haven’t, I’ve seen it before, plenty of times, and it’s never once put me off. I go in, I look at all of it, and I tell you what’s actually going on. No lecture. No making you feel like you should have sorted this months ago. Just the facts, and a plan.

There’s no ambiguity.

“There’s real fun in how you engage with heavy tech stuff, and your efficiency is brilliant. You’re clear about what you can and can’t do, and you make yourself available when you can. As someone neurodivergent, I really appreciate how you work. There’s no ambiguity.”

The name's Jenn. Back End Jenn.

Twenty five years in tech, most of it spent doing the unglamorous day to day work of keeping systems running.

I’m not a developer chasing the latest shiny thing, and I’m not a VA who needs instructing on every step. I’m the person who rolls up their sleeves, goes in, works out what’s actually going on, and fixes it before anything becomes a major problem.

What I’m not going to do is peer at your site over my glasses going “oh dear, what have we here.” In twenty five years I’ve seen more messes than I can count. Whatever’s lurking in yours, it’s not going to be a patch on some of the states I’ve poked around in. Nothing shocks me. Nothing gets judged.

“Jenn is a safe pair of hands”

“Boring tech tasks have a way of living at the bottom of the to-do list forever when you’re neurodivergent. There’s always a reason to avoid them.

Jenn is a safe pair of hands, and I say that as someone who has come back more than once.”

What actually happens during a Website Health Check?

Here’s the lowdown on what’s involved, for my fellow detail loving people.

What it is:

A full diagnostic audit of your WordPress site. I go through the whole thing, plugins to database, and tell you exactly what’s wrong, why it matters, and what order to deal with it in.

What’s included:

  • Plugin and theme scan + report
  • Broken links scan + report
  • Testing WordPress contact forms
  • Media and image bloat scan + report
  • Security review and patching
  • Quick fixes, specifically plugin and theme updates, removing unused admin accounts, image compression, database optimization.

What’s not included:

  • No SEO, design, or copy review.
  • Broken links get flagged and quoted separately, since the scope’s unknown until the scan actually runs.
  • No ecommerce, no membership sites.

And if your site is already down, that’s a different, more urgent job, not this one. This is for sites that are live and working, just not sitting right.

How do I get started?

We have a quick chat first. I take a look at your site to check it’s a good fit for this, not everything is, and if it’s not, I’ll do my best to point you towards someone who can actually help. If it is, I send you a contract and an invoice. As soon as that’s signed and paid, I get to work.

What happens next?

You get a written report. Plain language, priority order, nothing you need a developer to translate for you first. What’s actually wrong, why it matters, and what to do about it, whether that’s something small already fixed, or something bigger that needs its own project.

And the result?

You stop guessing. You know exactly what’s wrong and what it actually means, instead of a vague sense that something, somewhere, is probably a problem.

You get a document you can hand to a developer, or just keep for yourself, so nobody’s chasing ghosts and nothing gets missed because it wasn’t written down anywhere.

That’s the actual goal here. Not a perfect website. A website that does its job without you thinking about it. Not a website that’s likely to say “computer says no” mid launch.

How quickly can you sort this for me?

Two to four weeks all in, depending what the audit finds. A handful of outdated plugins moves faster than a site that hasn’t been looked at properly in three years. I’ll send you an update each week.

You’ll know what’s happening and when.

How much is this, and how do I start?

£995

Covers the full audit, the report, and any quick fixes found along the way.

Just Three Steps to Get Started

We hop on a call. I’ll get your WordPress and hosting access and take a quick look at your site.

If it’s a good fit, I’ll send your invoice and a contract to sign.

Once both are sorted, I get started on my next working day.

Quick Answers

These are the questions I get a lot. If you don’t see yours, drop me an email on jenn@hellyeahtech.com

Is this for me?

If your site is live, stable, and done, yes. If you’re still building it or it’s actively broken, this isn’t the right fit yet, get in touch and I’ll point you the right way.

What if I’ve got an online shop or membership site?

Ecommerce and membership sites are more involved. Get in touch and I’ll quote you properly.

What if my site is already broken?

That’s a different job. I’ll take a look and quote separately.

How long does this take?

The audit and report take about a week. If quick fixes are needed beyond that, two to four weeks depending what’s found.

What counts as a “quick fix” versus something you quote separately?

Small stuff gets done as part of the audit: plugin updates, removing an old admin account, compressing images. Bigger jobs, like a stack of broken links or real development work, get flagged in your report and quoted as a separate project.

What if you find something serious?

It goes in the report, with a clear explanation of what it means and what I’d recommend, in priority order. Nothing gets fixed without you knowing about it first.

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. The report’s written in plain language on purpose.
